    Fuji to calm a major volcanic eruption more than 1,000 years ago, the shrine was built to enshrine the Fuji deity Sengen, and is blessed with benefits such as 'easy childbirth', 'childbirth', 'matchmaking' and 'beauty'.
    The shrine grounds are home to seven Shichihonsugi cedar trees, designated as a natural monument by Yamanashi Prefecture and said to be 1,200 years old, and the Futahashira cedar tree is believed to be a sacred tree for marriage as it has been nestled with one root.
    The Tenku no Torii (Gateway to the Sky) is also famous for its spectacular view of Mt Fuji, which can be seen from between the torii gates, making it a photogenic spot for taking photos.

    NOTES

    Worship is possible regardless of opening hours.
    Visitors driving to the Tenku no Torii should take care as the road is narrow.
    A membership card is required to take photographs at the Tenku no Torii with a single-lens or mirrorless camera.
    Mt Fuji Harumojo Support Membership Card (membership valid for one year, 500 yen).
    Smartphones and mobile phones are not allowed to take photos with the torii ⛩ If you want to take photos with your phone, insert 100 yen and put it inside the fence.
    Use of tripods and drone photography are prohibited.
