Fugaku-wind Cave is a lava cave that has existed for more than 1,200 years in the Aokigahara Sea of Trees, where a large primeval forest remains. The average temperature is 3°C, so it was used as a natural refrigerator when there was no refrigeration equipment and was used to store silkworm eggs until the early Showa period.
The cave is a side cave with a total length of 201 m and a height of 8.7 m. The basalt walls inside are sound-absorbing and strangely sound does not reverberate.
During the 15-minute tour, visitors can see icicles that do not melt even in summer, lava shelves and rope lava.
