The Yamanashi Prefectural Museum is located in Fuefuki-shi, which flourished as the capital of the ancient province of Kai in ancient times. The museum was opened on 15 October 2005 as a facility where visitors can learn about the history of Yamanashi from ancient times to the present day and into the future through various hands-on experiences and exhibitions.
In the permanent exhibition zone, visitors can see ancient documents and Buddhist statues while experiencing visual and light effects, and there are many innovations to keep them entertained. The museum is also home to a number of workshops and exhibitions.
In addition, there is a permanent staff member called an Exhibition Exchange Officer, who guides visitors through the attractions every Saturday, and on Sundays a mini event called Terakoya Hiroba is held, as well as various other events in which many families take part.
The large garden is also a source of pride, with 40,000 trees and grasses of around 160 species planted, and monthly volunteer guided tours of the garden's attractions, allowing visitors to feel nature throughout the seasons and to see flowers, trees and insects as they stroll around.ADDRESS 1501-1 Narita, Misaka-cho, Fuefuki-shi, Yamanashi 406-0801 PHONE 055-261-2631 E-MAIL kenhaku@pref.yamanashi.lg.jp ACCESS By train
