The Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum was opened as the Yatsugatake Silk Road Museum by Mrs Michiko Hirayama in July 1999 and was renamed the Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum in April 2004. The museum was renamed the "Ikuo Hirayama Silk Road Museum" in April 2004, and currently has about 9,000 items on display two or three times a year.
The Silk Road is not only a route of trade between East and West, but also a route of exchange between different cultures, and the thoughts of each and every person who supported the prosperity of a culture are deeply engraved in the roadless paths. The roadless paths are deeply engraved with the thoughts and feelings of each and every one of the people who helped the culture to flourish.
I have repeatedly painted works based on the Silk Road in search of traces of humans in deserts and ruins, believing that the accumulation of thoughts of these nameless people shapes civilisation and history.
The culmination of his work is the series The Great Silk Road, which depicts a caravan that travels through the desert under the rising morning sun or in the moonlight - a symbol of the Silk Road, which Ikuo Hirayama admired, and of the exchange between people that transcends borders and ethnic groups, and even time and space. It is also a symbol of the Silk Road and the exchange between people that transcends borders, ethnicities and time and space.ADDRESS 2000-6, Koarama, Nagasaka-cho, Hokuto, Yamanashi 408-0031 PHONE 0551-32-0225 E-MAIL info@silkroad-museum.jp ACCESS By train
