Aiming to Make World-class High Quality Wine

Chuo Budoshu was founded in Katsunuma Town, Yamanashi, which is the place of origin of Japanese wine. Their wine has been known as “Grace Wine”. They mainly make wine with a vine variety called Koshu, which has been cultivated for more than 1000 years in Japan. In 2002, they opened their own vineyard “Misawa Vineyard” in Akeno Town, Hokuto City, which has an elevation of 700 meters and has the longest sunshine hours in Japan. They use the hedging system and cultivate Koshu as well as several different kinds of European vines such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon etc. They will continue the winemaking with the unity of the soil, cultivation efforts and the winemakers’ spirit.

    Grace wine’s building is covered with ivy and has a historical atmosphere. After you pass through the small door, you will find the wine shop that is stylish like a showroom on the 2nd floor. Katsunuma’s representative, Koshu wine can be purchased here as well as wine made from European grape varieties cultivated at Misawa Vineyard.

    You can taste almost all kinds of different wines they have at the counter in the wine shop (charges apply). Please enjoy the wine while learning Koshu’s history and Grace Wine’s history. They serve their wine in ISO wine tasting glasses which are used only for tastings.

    Katsunuma Town is known as the place of origin of Japanese wine. There are currently about 30 wineries in Katsunuma. The history of Japanese wine industry has begun and developed there.

    Akeno Town in Hokuto City is located in the northwestern part of Yamanashi and it has the longest sunshine hours in Japan. Akeno has an altitude of 700 meters and is suitable for the cultivation of wine grapevines since it gets a large amount of sunlight and has big difference in temperature between day and night. They opened their own vineyard “Misawa Vineyard” there in 2002 and started cultivating European grapevines such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc. They also work on the cultivation of Japanese traditional variety, Koshu with the authentic vertical shoot positioning. Their flagship wine “Cuvee Misawa” is produced, using grapes cultivated here.

    They have a wine cave which is constructed underground in Akeno. Its size is 470 square meters and it can store up to 95 barrels and about 60,000 wine bottles. Wine matures there in the finest environment, which makes full use of the nature.

    The vine variety “Koshu,” unique to Japan, is said to originate itself in Katsunuma region in Yamanashi. Koshu has earned a high reputation worldwide for its delicate taste and dryness. GRACE WINE aimes to be a global “domaine” working enthusiastically on vine cultivation as well as wine production. In self owned Misawa Farm in Akeno Town, Hokuto City, which is blessed with the longest sunshine hours in Japan, they make wines with the unity of soil, cultivation efforts and the winemakers’ spirit. They offer seminars titled “The charm of Koshu wine” and “Wine making from vine cultivation”.

    GRACE WINE Misawa Farm is located in Akeno Town, Hokuto City, Yamanashi, which is the city of the longest sunshine hours in Japan. In Misawa farm, they cultivate vine grapes under the strict supervision of the hedging system. In the tasting seminar of the choice, they introduce their wines which are produced using the grapes cultivated in Misawa Farm.
