The world's first shadow puppet museum, designed and supervised by the world-famous shadow puppet master, Seiji Fujishiro, and listed in the Guinness Book of Records in 1994.
The exhibition rooms are located in the basement, where there is no natural light, so that the works can be seen more beautifully.
In addition to the main exhibition of Kiyoharu Fujishiro, a poet of light and shadow, there are also exhibitions of Kiyoshi Yamashita, a Japanese Van Gogh; Satomi Kono, an artist of light; Yumeji Takehisa, a master of Taisho romanticism and beauty painting; Keiko Utsumi, a comic, actress and painter; and Kojii Yasui, a hometown travel painter.
The unique mood of light and gentle atmosphere of the shadow pictures, which cannot be seen in print, is a beauty that can only be found in the original drawings.
In the pitch-dark basement exhibition room, characters such as dwarfs, animals and mermaids are colourfully painted and move about.ADDRESS Postal code 400-1214
