Maizuru Castle Park (Kofu Castle Ruins)
Scenic spots and ParksKofu and suburbsView Images
Maizuru Castle Park was built by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi after the fall of the Takeda clan (Kofu Castle) and is said to have been constructed as an important strategic base to counter the Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Kanto region, and after the Tokugawa regime came to power, it continued to maintain its importance as a western reserve.
The castle was once a sprawling 20 ha castle fortress, with its elegant white walls overlapping each other, and was called ‘a castle fortress like a crane spreading its wings’, which is another name for Kofu Castle.
The park is famous for its stone walls from the time the castle was built, the restored gate, the Inari turret and the free plaza where various events are held, as well as for its cherry blossoms, with approximately 160 cherry trees blooming around the stone walls of Kofu Castle.ADDRESS 1-5-4, Marunouchi 1-chome, Kofu, Yamanashi 400-0031, Japan PHONE 055-227-6179 (Maizuru Castle Park Management Office) E-MAIL sangkaka@city.kofu.lg.jp ACCESS By train
