Nishizawa Valley
Scenic spots and ParksIsawa /Katsunuma /YamanashiView Images
The trekking course that circles the valley, which was formed by clear water eroding huge granite rocks, is full of sights such as waterfalls, bridges, clear streams and oddly shaped rocks.
The beauty of the valley is truly breathtaking, with the famous Nanatsugama five-stage waterfall, which has been selected as one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan, as well as the Mie Waterfall, Ryujin Waterfall, Koito Waterfall, Teisen Waterfall and various other waterfalls.
However, due to a landslide caused by heavy rain on 14 June 2021, the hypothetical footpath near the Takimi Bridge in Nishizawa Gorge has collapsed and is scheduled to be closed until the end of March 2024, so the Takimi Bridge near the Nanatsugama 5-stage Falls will not be accessible.
The valley has a promenade where visitors can enjoy the seasonal changes unique to the valley, and is visited by many tourists during the rhododendrons in May and the autumn leaves in Autumn.
The relaxing effects of forest bathing have been proven and the Nishizawa Valley has been recognised as a forest therapy base, and has also been selected as one of the '100 best waters of the Heisei Era', '100 best forest bathing forests', '100 best water source forests' and so on.ADDRESS Yamanashi, Yamanashi 404-0201 PHONE Yamanashi City Tourist Association (0553)22-1111/(0553)20-1400 (direct)
